About KMW

About KMW

I'm dedicated to solving systemic Digital Divide and No Body Left Behind issues in CA communities through the public education systems.

Non-Profit
In 1991 I started working with the Lazarus Foundation. In 1995 I became part of the Commons were I created the CalTek.Net in 1997. In 1998 I partnered with LINCT Coalition to do the Learn & Earn Program. I have served on several non-profit boards and presented at various education based conferences. See my portfolio at http://kmw.caltek.net

Since Feb 2006 I've adopted the http://www.eriders.net/ business model for working with non-profits and educational programs through CA.

For-Profit
Tutortronics has supported Caltek.net since leaving Community Parnters in 2006. Since Jan 2006 I've worked with Solution Grove primarily in k-12 doLRN advocacy and support.

What I do breaks down to assessment (WASC and other certifications were available), communications, organizational efficiency, Research and Development all using Learning Management Systems for content management in e-Learning.

Much of what I do is on my own terms because of the technical breath that most agencies (that I work with) do not have the expertise to utilize. The software systems are complex and the flexibility is in the details which relies on advance computing system to be able to handle each situation efficiently.

I'm not trying to get you to do anything other than share with me the curriculum, that you use in your classroom. I'm interested in the details of things that you do in your classroom which may include:

  1.  reference to the CA Standards by grade and subject
  2.  assessment and evaluation (expressed in a rubric, if possible)
  3.  content syllabus/outline
  4.  content narrative and delivery in the form of lessons
  5.  homework assignments
  6.  discovery and re-enforcement activities (individual and group)
  7.  tasks and evalutation
  8.  grading

Once I have the above information, I will use a http://caltek.net subsite to create documentation and planning for virtual instructional representation/simulation of as many aspects as I can, then share it with you.

Note:
One driving force, for me, is that I see a need to evaluate the software applications that is being taught in the classroom and where possible come up with Open Source applications as options. The other need, that my work addresses, is how teachers can teach parents what they are teaching their off-springs, so that they have the option of actively participating in the actual education process.

Finally, fyi, the technical educational arena for learning instruction, that I use, is called The Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM). SCORM is a collection of standards and specifications for web-based e-learning. Advanced Distributive Learning (ADL) Initiative from the U.S.Secretary of the Office of Defense. The SCORM is a set of specifications used to standardize e-learning content to ensures interoperability between SCORM compliant Learning Management Systems (LMS).

3rd Annual Podcasting Expo

3rd Annual Podcasting Expo

I attended the 3rd Annual Podcasting Expo in Ontartion CA. I was fortunate to attend on Sunday when the Ask A Ninga crew of two gave the key note session.

It was great! They talked about it being just the two of them, working together and how they almost always agreed on things. One was more the technical and other was a comedian.

They said that they used the talents and equipment that they owned and rarely involved others in their production. They talked about protecting the branding and how they  work hard on deciding what to have the Ninga do.

I video taped most of their presentation whitcht was deleiver in interview fashion with  the two of them sitting on a couch and the interviewer in a chair.

The session lasted the better part of a hour and ended with question and answers, which I did not include in the tape.

I also got a chance to introduce myself as being with Kid's Talk Radio. They both were very interested in Kids' talk Radio and when I asked them to tell us what they think we should know they went for it.

Video Interview to come, asap.
